Hi my name is Nikki and I wear many hats but at the core of my being I consider myself a humanitarian.

Sometimes I look at the plight of the world and I feel overwhelmed. From climate change, to homeless animals, children not having access to education, war, poverty, abuse, there seems like there’s so many issues That it’s overwhelming and paralyzing.

But when I looked up and began to speak to people, I realized that for every issue, there are people fighting and advocating and passionately working to make change.

People caring And doing their best.

In 2012 I had an opportunity to work as a nurse in Haiti and I became so inspired by the people there that I opened a small school. My Yoga and Pilates studio; Breathe Pilates & Yoga Studio ran Karma movement classes to help fund the school as a result kids could get an education and a meal for free.

When the studio was mandated closed for almost 18 months in 2020, I was lucky as I work as a nurse and was able to continue to fund the school, but it made me wonder how are all these small organizations that could no longer have events etc. making it work making ends meet…

And I had an inspired idea…

What if I created a T-shirt with the message “Good human” and 100% of the profit would be donated to local charities small organizations trying to make a difference?

It seemed wild since I have no apparel background but I spoke with a local graphic designer Corey Futko of Momento designs and she brought my vision to life. When it came time to print she then suggested a local printer Jake Moroun of Sausage Dog Promo because it was important to me to support small business, even though the cost profit margin’s are obviously different (but this aligns to my values).

A couple months later Good Human was created and we sold out of our two hundred shirts in one day.

Since then we have Raised over $3000 for local organizations (can be found here) and have extended the brand to include Decent Human (inspiration from you all who just couldn’t wear the Good Human lol) and Good dog (for furry friend organizations).

In the words of Margaret Mead:

“Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.”

I’m excited to find good humans doing wonderful things in their community to share and inspire us!
