Yoga Life with Gina

Morning Mysore

Gina is an authorized Ashtanga Yoga teacher and runs her Mysore Program Monday-Saturday at Breathe from 730-9am.

Mysore is

Ashtanga Mysore practice is a self-led, teacher-supported style of practicing Ashtanga Yoga, named after the city of Mysore, India, where it originated under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

Here’s a breakdown:

What It Is

Self-paced: Students move through the set sequence of postures at their own pace, based on how much of the sequence they’ve learned.

Silent room: Unlike led classes, there’s no group instruction — the room is typically quiet, with occasional soft guidance or adjustments from the teacher.

One-on-one attention: The teacher walks around and gives individualized instruction, physical assists, and helps students learn or refine poses.

Consistency: Students usually practice 6 days a week, except on moon days (full/new moon) and during menstruation for those who follow traditional guidelines.

What Makes It Special

•It’s deeply meditative, building internal focus.

•You develop muscle memory, discipline, and a connection to your breath (Ujjayi).

•The method respects each student’s pace — new postures are given only when the teacher feels you’re ready.

Think of it like an open studio time with a highly experienced mentor nearby. It’s one of the most traditional ways to learn yoga — passed down teacher to student rather than broadcast to a group.

Compassionate Psychotherapy Grounded in Real-World Experience

As a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist in Ontario with over 12 years of experience in Forensic Mental Health and Early Intervention programming, I bring a trauma-informed, deeply human approach to care. My background includes work with the Canadian Mental Health Association and a specialization in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, PTSD, existential overwhelm, and the unique challenges faced by first responders.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work to further deepen my therapeutic practice. My focus is on providing thoughtful, supportive care for those who are wrestling with big questions, difficult memories, or a general sense that something’s not quite right — even if it’s hard to name.

At this stage of growing my private practice, I’m offering limited client spots and accessible, sliding scale pricing options to keep care within reach. If you’re seeking grounded support and a space to explore healing, I’d be honoured to work with you.
